About the Project

This project focuses on smart products designed using Internet of Things technology.

My contribution 

Included UI and UX design for mobile and Windows software platforms for remote product control and management. And I came up with new designs for the physical product.

Target

Information technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the functionality and efficiency of buildings, leading to healthier and more active lifestyles for occupants. Smart buildings leverage advanced technologies to offer improved control over various environmental factors, such as lighting, temperature, and air quality, thereby optimizing comfort and well-being.

Research

“In the analysis of our competitors’ products, we identified their strengths and weaknesses and used observations of innovation and new product technologies as a model to improve our products. This process helped us significantly in avoiding repeated mistakes and enhancing our product. Additionally, according to the persona and target audience, we more precisely identified the needs of the product.”

 

Ideation

Sketches

Once I gained a clearer picture of users, I started sketching design solutions and preparing low-fi prototypes. By doing so, I was able to go through design ideas and quickly find the right ones.

User Flow Wireframes

I took it a step further and prepared wireframes to focus on usability and ensure that the app was built according to the goals. Also, I had the chance to ask for feedback much earlier in the process and reviewed the user journey.

Visual Design

Before starting the design, I knew how other applications on the market looked, so I tried simpler styles for connecting the app to the device and grouping the device, making improvements with each iteration. The most important point for We wanted the user to be able to easily categorize and manage. For example, an office building with several floors can easily manage the lights of the building.

Industrial Design Process

I have always been interested in designing industrial products and this project provided me a great opportunity to challenge myself in the process of industrial design.

My journey began by researching similar products on the market. I examined the available materials according to their properties and how they affect the performance and aesthetics of the product. . With this understanding, I began to design a product that utilized both the capabilities of the material and the specific needs of the application.

  • In order to better understand the designs and visualize more accurately, I made trade models using 3Max software and checked all the dimensions.

Final Design

Prototypes were made in the factory and provided to us for testing and review. By examining the prototype, we noticed some problems, such as the interference of panel connections with the app, etc., which we developed and improved in the next steps.


After production, the final product entered the market and became available to users.
